Big Move: Waukegan, IL to Milwaukee WI

Image
“Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” – Genesis 12:1 '"You called me out upon the waters, the great unknown where feet may fail, an there I find you in the mystery in oceans deep. My faith will stand." -Hillsong Worship Two months ago, I made a huge move. I moved from Waukegan, IL to Milwaukee, WI. And although, it is only 55 mins in distance the move was not easy for me in terms of adjustment and loneliness . As some of you know I moved to Wisconsin to attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Prior to my move, I attended my community college back home by the name of College of Lake County. At this instituion, I grew exceptionally as a student leader and I found Jesus. My first semester I felt a whole bunch of things excitement and nervousness. However, I adjusted when I found that I was leader. I was a full-time student and was a President of a women’s organization called Sister 2 Sis...

Crucified

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20 The above verse has rung in my heart like a brass cymbal. Let’s examine what Paul was saying in this verse. In the first line, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, Whew. This first line is powerful because Paul is saying that he was spiritually dead when Christ went to the cross to save humanity and that’s why Christ went to give us new life. His (our) old ways and fleshly desires crucified. For Paul, his old ways were being a religious Pharisee and persecuting Christians. However, when he received salvation through Christ Jesus his old self died. His old self no longer lives but now Christ lives within us, how awesome is it that God lives within us? Over 2000 years ago, Jesus died and sent the holy spirit to l...

"Faithing It"

Image
You see your faith to God in the spiritual is like Gas to a car in the natural! We cannot move a car without Gas. - Heather Lindsey Recently, I have been studying faith at a deeper level. We know that everyone on this earth was given a measure of faith. It is a gift from God. So many of us get stuck in a routine and aren’t even aware of the dangers of it. For example, many times we may get comfortable. Go to church every Sunday, shout, post about it, have dinner and I won't even it. We cannot be spiritually transformed and elevated to the next level in our faith without having faith. So, what is faith? "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things unseen." Pastor TourĂ© Roberts of One Church LA defines faith as your currency, your means of exchange with God. Hebrews 11:11 tells us that “Faith is the substance of the things hoped for, and the evidence of the things unsee n.” According to my Student Life Application Bible, NLT faith is ...

Trust the Process

"But i trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the               Lord. I will sing to the Lord because he has been so good to me." (Psalms 13:5 NLT)  What does it mean to put trust in the Lord? My definition of putting trust in the Lord is to be fully confident in God and believe that he will fulfill his purpose. Not wavering, not resu...

Designed by Destiny: Perfect in Christ

Image
Design: to create, fashion, execute or construct according to plan; to conceive and plan out in mind. Destiny: A predetermined course of events often held to an irresistible power designed.  Today, I did something different in this blog than most, instead of providing opening scriptures I have provided two important definitions of destiny and design. I want you to know that you were designed by destiny. The definition of design means to create, execute, or construct according to a plan. If we look at fashion designers, they have an idea and then the design is visualized and then executed. That is the same way with Jesus, from the beginning of time, God created us and designed us and crafted us perfectly. He then designed our purpose and or destiny! In Jeremiah 1:5 , we all know this verse, but for some it may be hard to recall when we are during a battle or feel defeated. The verse states "Before I formed you in your mother's womb; I knew you....

The Truth about Millennials and The Church

Image
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. - 1 Peter 2:9    The truth about Millennials and the Church is a long debated, thought-provoking, church stirring conversation that has been put off for far too long. Many have asked the questions "What is it gonna take to get the younger generation involved in the church?" "Why has the younger generation left the church or aren't active in the church?" I have done some research and God has to lead me to answer some of these questions . One of the questions is "Why do millennials struggle with getting actively involved in the church?" When I say involved I mean seeking god so he can reveal your purpose to you and you can benefit the body of Christ. Not just coming to church and clapping your hands. Not shouting but then neglecting to fellowsh...

What it really means to GUARD YOUR HEART

Image
" Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." - Proverbs 4:23 (NIV ) God really tugged on my heart to speak on this because it has been something I have struggled with over the past couple of months. If you're reading this, I bet you're asking, what does it really mean to guard your heart? Is there a difference between guarding your heart and closing yourself off to others completely? Does this apply to just women? Nikia, it’s hard. This cold cruel world we live in it is extremely difficult not to fall into the trap of comparison on social media and this sex-filled day and age. What does it really mean to GUARD your HEART? To guard your heart means engaging in things that will pull you AWAY from God. Television, relationships, conversations, friendships, etc... It means choosing your friends wisely and cultivating godly friendships with accountability, encouragement, and FUN! It means choosing the "GOD thing" v...
