The Pruning Process

Prune: to cut away. To reduce the extent of something by removing unwanted parts. In the natural realm, pruning takes place in gardening and gardeners cut off the branches of trees to make them bear better fruit or grow higher. It is also done for maintenance, to make it have a better appearance. In a past tense state, we use the word pruned and it means to be cleared unsuitable or superfluous. This same process takes place for us as we grow In Christ, when we accept salvation we are baby Christians or spiritually immature, but when we ask God to prune us and uproot those old habits or nasty characteristics we can be truly used by him. In John 15:1-8 it states “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” This verse provides a physical representation of pruning. A Call to Holiness

                 “Without Holiness, you will not see the Lord.”– John Piper Hi Brothers and Sisters, Happy New Year! With the rush of new goals, excitement, and the freshness of a new year it is easy to fall back into old habits if you aren’t self-disciplined and dedicated to life a holy lifestyle. This word has been on my heart for a while and God told me to move and stop sitting on it. While spending time with God, he let me on something. People are attending church and owning the “Christian” title without putting in the work. You may be wondering what is the work? I read my bible, I attend church every Sunday, I attend bible study, and I post scriptures on Instagram. None of that is defined as holy, but a routine. Putting in the work is simply having a heart after Jesus and continually seeking him when things aren’t going your WAY! I don’t want to ever get stuck in a routine in any capacity, especially not with Jesus because Jesus isn’t average or mediocre.
