Battling Insecurities

“Living freely is so much more than giving away the goodness that you have in your heart. It is also learning how to accept the bad, the ugly, and the unfairness that you might be greeted with as you give your love away”- Alex Elle

How many of us felt like we aren't good enough? Pretty enough, thin enough, curvy enough, smart enough, or strong enough, religious enough? I've felt all these things many times and I'm sure we all have, but just as we have flaws and insecurities, We must realize that on the other side of our shortcomings lies strengths, and areas that we excel in. We all have a uniqueness that we possess that distinguishes us from the next person. These negative thoughts/feelings leaves us feeling anxious, insecure, and leaves room for comparison to others. The best advice I can give to battling insecurities is IDENTIFY them and CONQUER them. I am insecure about public speaking and you would think because I have served in leadership positions these past two years, i would be comfortable but that's not the case. I feel exposed and naked like the crowd is judging me and my heart feels like it is about to burst out of my chest. I used to always critique my performance afterwards and even after everyone said I did good I didn't feel it. However, that is nothing but an illusion because "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but of power and of love and of sound judgement, and personal discipline." (II Tim 1:7 AMP)

If we can just change our mind about ourselves, our flaws, and insecurities we can come full circle with how God views us. God has already equipped us to withstand life's trials and has predestined us to walk fully in our purpose. So, my brothers and sisters I want to encourage you to conquer the fear or insecurity that is burdening your heart. Understand that you have the power and authority that the God has given us. And we cannot be helpful to anyone if our thoughts are detrimental, our thoughts permeate our actions. The word tells us in Proverbs, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he... (Proverbs 23:7 AMP)

The truth is we cannot possess a heathy mind, a good mind, a mind that resembles God if we don't practice good thoughts! I want to impress on you the necessity of being mindful of your thoughts and start fighting through your insecurities. Remember your WORTH lies in Christ Jesus!

Be Encouraged,
