While Im Waiting

“But those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run as eagles; they shall RUN and not be WEARY; and they shall walk; and not faint.” - Isaiah 40:31 KJV

How many of us our waiting? Waiting on to see Gods promise,  waiting employment, a promotion, or an increase in our finances/salary,  or perhaps waiting on a mate. You may be simply waiting GOD to reveal that thing that has kept you up at night. I’m saying to you to be steadfast in your W – A – I – T – I – N - G. The truth is that your flesh does NOT want you to wait, it wants you what it wants, and therefore we must die our flesh every single day. Our flesh doesn’t think logically or rationally. It behaves like a two-year old and throws a tantrum. That 2-year-old may want to chew on your car keys but as a parent, you will deny them that thing that they want. Clearly, you are doing it to protect them. Those keys are dirty and contain bacteria and doesn’t belong in their mouth. However, that 2-year-old doesn’t care about it being harmful or dirty. Children seek instant gratification. Therefore, when things don’t go our way, we assume the worse. We become frustrated, impatient, and hurt. Like God has forgotten about us. Maybe, just maybe GOD is taking you through that difficult season to mature you and grow you up. The book of James clearly depicts the work of perseverance. It reads Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:4 NLT). All of us know how hard it is to go through something but how do we preserve? How do we keep our eyes on GOD and not our circumstance? I have given three definitions of the word perseverance below.

Perseverance: (1) persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success

KJV (2): Persistence in anything undertaken; continued pursuit or prosecution of any business or enterprise begun; applied alike to good or evil

KJV (3): In theology, continuance in a state of grace to a state of glory; sometimes called final perseverance. (taken from AV1611.com KJV Dictionary)

We preserve when we choose to focus on the promise not the pain. When we choose the uncomfortable over the comfort. Let’s take another look at the same verse but a different translation. It reads “And let endurance have her perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete lacking in nothing.” (James 1:4 NASB). When we are going through things, we feel voiceless, powerless or even beaten down. In the spiritual realm, we have tapped out of our authority. In this season of my life, I am constantly reminded that God’s goodness doesn’t change based on my emotions or my feelings. He is omnipresent and constantly working on my behalf. You must have hope and faith. It is a two-way street and you can’t have ONE without the OTHER! Do you hear me? It is time to tap back into your authority and stop letting the enemy beat you down. He has hated you since you the day you were born. He doesn’t want you to come into recognition of who you are. The crazy thing is he knows ALL ABOUT YOU! He knows about your gifts, your ministry, your purpose, your calling and gifts. The question is “What are you doing now to reveal them and truly tap into ALL who God called you to be? The thing about perseverance is that it is hard work and strenuous. It is a hard process. Are you up for the challenge? The book of Luke states “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”-(Luke 10:29 NIV).

The Spirit of God spoke placed this word on my heart tonight  and it has given me comfort and carried me through my situation. The Lord spoke to me saying “When you are in a waiting season I comes in waves and trials. And you must get to a place in which you will stop complaining and get on your knees! You must want him more than anything. Invite him in and surrender your situation to him. Declare his words over you and write them down again and again. He has revealed to me three specific stages of waiting:

1.    Faith- we are holding on firmly to our faith. Our faith may be big or small, but we believe in God’s mighty power.

2.    Doubt- Humanely, after waiting we began to waver in our faith, and it turns into doubt. Since we aren’t seeing any action, we start questioning ourselves and God. Our mind plays tricks on us .

3.    Temptation – Everyone encounters temptation and this this third stage is crucial. Where do we go? Who do we trust?

·         Do you choose the meaningful over the urgent?

·         Do you go back to your former life and neglect your future?

·         Are you enticed by your past and its easier to your back on God?

Sidebar: Our minds tricks us into questioning the very thing we prayed for and GOD already promised us! Its already done! Believe it’s already done.

Prayer: God I trust that you are active and very much working in my life. You are active and working on my behalf. Not only are you omnipresent, but you are king of kings. Your are a healer and a restorer. While I’m waiting, you shall by my refuge! You not making me wait for no reason. I choose to trust you for your best! “When you go through deep waters. I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. “ (Isaiah 43:2 NLT)

As always, Be Encouraged!
