What it really means to GUARD YOUR HEART

Image
" Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." - Proverbs 4:23 (NIV ) God really tugged on my heart to speak on this because it has been something I have struggled with over the past couple of months. If you're reading this, I bet you're asking, what does it really mean to guard your heart? Is there a difference between guarding your heart and closing yourself off to others completely? Does this apply to just women? Nikia, it’s hard. This cold cruel world we live in it is extremely difficult not to fall into the trap of comparison on social media and this sex-filled day and age. My Testimony

"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity." (1 Tim 4:12 NIV) First, I would just like to say, I have never publicly shared my testimony, not with family, friends, or most commonly in church. I was adopted as a newborn and legally at the age of four. I was born premature, weighing in at two pounds, eight ounces. Before I went home with my parents, I needed to get big...

It is also learning how to accept the bad, the ugly, and the unfairness that you might be greeted with as you give your love away”- Alex Elle How many of us felt like we aren't good enough? Pretty enough, thin enough, curvy enough, smart enough, or strong enough, religious enough? I've felt all these things many times and I'm sure we all have, but just as we have flaws and insecurities, We must realize that on the other side of our shortcomings lies strengths, and areas that we excel in. We all have a uniqueness that we possess that distinguishes us from the next person. These negative thoughts/feelings leaves us feeling anxious, insecure, and leaves room for comparison to others. The best advice I can give to battling insecurities is IDENTIFY them and CONQUER them. I am insecure about public speaking and you would think because I have served in leadership positi...
